Marie Case joins client and friend Jessica Honegger, Founder of the socially conscious fashion brand Noonday Collection, for a special series on the Art of Difficult Dialogue In this season of political, social, and economic upheaval, Marie and Jessica challenge us to do what can often seem impossible – simply, intentionally, listen.

 

 

Along with John Mackey, founder of Whole Foods, and Robyn Denholm, Chairman of the Board of Tesla, to name a few, Marie was asked to contribute to the chapter ‘Deal with Your Baggage’ in Megan McNealy’s new book.

In Reinvent the Wheel, McNealy takes on the mistaken belief, pervasive in our workplaces, that doing well is more important than being well. Our leadership theory, methodology and practical tools have been developed by our coaches and consultants who have decades of experience creating breakthroughs with tens of thousands of leaders and initiatives in large and small businesses and Fortune 500 corporations.

 

THE LEADERSHIP JOURNEY

The leadership journey starts with purpose and is put into action by a clear mission, strategic vision, empowered culture, and aligned leadership approach. We focus on shifting the mindset and practices of the company collective; interpersonal competencies that focus on the relationships within the collective; and intra-personal insights within the leaders themselves.
 

SHARED UNDERSTANDING = SHARED COMMITMENT

Without shared understanding of the current state, all dialogue and commitments will be at least somewhat askew, based neither in the same starting point nor headed for the same result. When real alignment is reached about the end game the quality of the conversation ‘how do we get there’ is clear and energizing. 

CONVERSATIONAL PYRAMID

What do leaders do all day? They make things happen through conversation. Every “act of leadership” includes a conversation; directly with others, in one’s own head, in meetings, on the phone or videoconference, via email or text and on and on. The Conversational Pyramid is a methodology for supporting conditions that are essential to producing breakthroughs.
 

GOING SLOW TO GO FAST

There is great value in “going slow to go fast” providing the foundation for successful implementation and, in the end, saving time while delivering extraordinary results. Leadership teams at all levels are often impatient to get into action.
